A restored classic invites a slower rhythm: fewer rushed transfers, more time for a favourite beach, a village café or a sunset. Choose a route suited to your vehicle, use appropriate overnight stopping places and respect local parking and camping rules. Off-road driving is not permitted.

For couples and friends, a classic campervan gives the holiday its own character. For digital nomads, it offers a different way to combine travel and time away. If you plan to work remotely, check the chosen vehicle’s electrical equipment and arrange suitable internet access before travelling; do not assume every van has Wi-Fi or an identical power setup.

Since 2007, Blue Classics has been restoring, preserving and sharing vehicles with a story. Our team works from our own restoration workshop in Portimão, where classic design, hand-finished details and practical comfort come together.

Every vehicle is restored by our team and professionally maintained. Preparation includes:

• A complete mechanical overhaul as part of the restoration.
• Regular inspections between rentals.
• Comfort improvements adapted to the vehicle.
• Safety, reliability and quality checks before the next journey.

Your campervan is prepared at our Portimão workshop before collection. We provide operating instructions and support, while the standard handover uses online check-in and secure key-box access.

📅 Direct booking, clear inclusions and seasonal rates

Use the online booking calendar on this page to check availability and rates for your travel dates. Prices depend on the season, the chosen vehicle and the duration of your rental.

Book directly through our website to receive the included equipment and benefits described above. The security deposit is €1,000 and is separate from the rental price.

Airport delivery and collection are optional paid services. Travel expenses such as fuel, tolls, parking and campsites, as well as any external insurance you choose to purchase, are separate from the included equipment. Review your booking summary and rental agreement before confirming.

🛡️ Optional protection for greater peace of mind

You may wish to explore rental-excess reimbursement insurance before travelling. An eligible policy may reimburse covered damage charges, subject to its limits, conditions and exclusions. It is not an automatic guarantee that every deduction from a deposit will be reimbursed.

The €1,000 deposit remains payable even if you arrange external cover. Any reimbursement claim must be submitted to the insurer, which decides the outcome under its policy. We can provide the relevant rental documents to assist with the claim.

✈️ Getting to our Portimão depot

All Blue Classics vehicles are prepared at our workshop and depot in Portimão. This is our standard collection location, and most guests come directly to the depot using one of the transfer options below.

From Faro Airport to Portimão

• Train or bus: from €11 per person for the Faro–Portimão journey. Check connections from the airport and the current timetable.
• Partner transfer: book at least 24 hours in advance. Standard four-seat vehicle: €55 between 08:00 and 20:00, or €60 between 20:00 and 08:00. English- and Portuguese-speaking drivers.
• Taxi, Uber or Bolt: from approximately €40 per journey; prices vary with availability and season.

Transport prices are indicative and should be confirmed when booking. Journey time from Faro Airport is approximately one hour by road, depending on traffic and the service used.

Optional vehicle delivery to an airport

Instead of collecting at our depot, you can request delivery of your campervan to the airport parking area, subject to advance booking and availability.

• Faro Airport: €100 per one-way delivery or collection.
• Lisbon Airport: €300 per one-way delivery or collection.
• Porto Airport: €600 per one-way delivery or collection.

The same fee applies if you return the campervan at the airport instead of Portimão. For example, delivery and collection at Faro Airport total €200. Airport delivery is optional and is not included in the rental’s complimentary equipment package.

🔑 Online check-in and secure key collection

Our standard check-in is completed online, with secure key-box access. It allows greater flexibility, reduced waiting times, fewer queues during the busy season and collection outside office hours after your file is complete.

• Secure keys: your keys are placed in a secure key box.
• Arrival video: complete a short video check-in showing the exterior, interior and dashboard.
• Location: the vehicle’s exact GPS location and access instructions are sent by email before collection.

To allow proper preparation between rentals, vehicles must be returned before 10:00 AM. Check-in is available from 3:00 PM.

Earlier access may be possible when the vehicle is fully prepared, but it cannot be guaranteed. Remote collection does not mean that the vehicle is available before the agreed check-in time.

Frequently asked questions

What is included when I book on the Blue Classics website?

All our vans include the hot water system, indoor and outdoor showers, kitchen kit, refrigerator, heating when parked, outdoor table and chairs, bed linen and towels. Unlimited mileage and a second driver are also included. These benefits apply to direct website bookings, subject to the rental agreement.

Can I use the van for a surf trip around Sagres and the Costa Vicentina?

Yes. Plan a route suited to your chosen vehicle, check space for your own surf equipment and use permitted stopping places. Surfboards and lessons are not advertised as part of the included equipment package.

Is airport delivery included in the rental?

No. Collection at our Portimão depot is the standard arrangement. Airport delivery and collection are optional services, with the one-way fees listed above.

Do I still pay the deposit if I arrange external insurance?

Yes. The €1,000 deposit remains payable. External reimbursement cover is a separate contract.

Can I combine my van trip with an apartment stay?

Yes. Subject to availability, you can begin or finish your journey with a stay at Vida à Portuguesa, our restored accommodation in Portimão.
